The New York Personal Injury Lawyers of Hach & Rose, LLP, Discuss Verdict in Munoz v. Hilton Hotel Corporation
Recently, the New York personal injury attorneys of Hach & Rose, LLP, helped Victor and Elvia Munoz win an award of over $13,000,000 for damages sustained by Mr. Munoz as a result of a workplace construction accident that occurred while painting a hotel located in Times Square. The jury’s award included compensation for both past and future medical bills, lost earnings, and the pain and suffering he was forced to endure as a result of his injuries.
The accident occurred on June 16, 2007 when Mr. Munoz was painting a metal frame on the hotel’s loading dock. The ladder on which he was standing shifted, causing Munoz to fall and hit his head directly on the concrete below. Munoz was taken by ambulance to St. Vincent’s Hospital, where he was treated for intracerebral hemorrhage, bone fractures, and a subdural hematoma. As a result of this incident, Munoz suffered permanent brain damage with symptoms including permanent loss of control of some facial muscles, severe balance problems, emotional issues, and a loss of hearing on his right side, among other health complications. Ultimately, the jury decided that Munoz’s injuries occurred as a result of inadequate safety procedures on the part of the hotel’s property owners and, therefore, awarded him and his wife a total of $13,020,857 for the effects that this tragic accident has had on their lives.
On-the-job accidents remain an all-too-common problem in American life. As Mr. Munoz’s case shows, these accidents can often have significant, life-altering consequences for victims. Fortunately, with experienced legal representation, many of those who have been injured in work-related accidents may be able to receive the compensation they need to cover their resulting losses. The New York injury lawyers of Hach & Rose, LLP, are prepared to provide their assistance to anyone who has been the victim of a workplace accident in New York.
Hach & Rose, LLP, partner Michael Rose, the trial attorney on the case, stated, “We are very proud of the fact that we were able to help this Manhattan jury see what a tremendous effect this accident had on Mr. Munoz and his family. Thankfully, they should now have the resources to care for him for the rest of his life.”
