Fire Island, NY (July 5, 2019) – A fatal accident occurred in a swimming pool at the restaurant Canteen at Fire Island Ponds on Thursday evening, July 4th. According to authorities, a man died after he was found in the swimming pool of the restaurant, unconscious and unresponsive around 7:00 p.m.
Police stated that Carlos Medina, 32, was found in the pool, although no information concerning the events that led to his death have been reported at this time. Emergency medical crews were called to the scene and Medina was transported to Marine Bureau Headquarters by boat. He was then taken to Southside Hospital, where he was tragically pronounced deceased.
Authorities have not been able to provide any further details surrounding this incident. However, no criminality is suspected at this time. Police are asking anyone with any information to please call 631-852-6392.
