Midtown Manhattan, NY (June 10, 2019) – On Monday afternoon, June 10th, the city was alerted to an incident in which one person was killed during a helicopter crash on a rooftop in. The accident happened at the AXA Equitable Center located in the 700 block of 7th Avenue, in the vicinity of 51st Street, at approximately 2:00 p.m.
According to the FDNY, the helicopter ended up crash-landing on top of the aforementioned building, where the impact resulted in a fire. Preliminary information has revealed that the pilot of the helicopter lost contact with the LGA tower before attempting to find a flat spot to land. The incident was deemed a tragic and unfortunate accident.
Authorities have since confirmed that the pilot, who is yet to be identified, was the only one involved in the crash, and that nobody else was injured.
