Long Island, NY (May 27, 2019) – According to police, a man has been arrested for child pornography following an incident that took place at the air show at the Jones Beach State Park on Saturday, May 25th. 21-year-old John Meehan, of North Babylon, was reported to have been arrested after a concerned parent notified authorities that the man was photographing children at the Bethpage Air Show.
State park police said that a mother of a 5-year-old girl noticed Meehan taking pictures of her child, which led to a confrontation between police and the suspect. According to authorities, it was then confirmed that Meehan had been photographing two children at the air show, using his phone, as well as a camera. Police allegedly discovered over 100 illicit pictures of children in Meehan’s possession.
Meehan was arrested and police conducted a search of his home, confiscating his computers for further investigation. He is charged with unlawful surveillance, as well as possessing a sexual performance of a child, and is currently being held on $50,000 bail.
