An attorney from Long Island has recently lost his right to practice the law after an investigator revealed several cases of refusing to pay his clients their due settlements.
Paul Vesnaver was revealed to have withheld $500,000 from a settlement he won for an injured client, as well as from several other clients for up to $200,000. After pressure from both the Eyewitness News Investigators and the Judicial Grievance Committee, Vesnaver resigned due to his professional misconduct and failure to obtain the client settlements. After this, he cannot practice in New York.
One of his clients—Xhevat Misku, to whom he owes half a million dollars for a settlement for his construction accident—believes that “it’s not enough, just to resign” and that “he [Vesnaver] has to go to jail.”
Misku’s son, Adnan, said that he wonders how many more formal clients have attempted to reach the disgraced former lawyer out of desperation.
